EW Villa Medica clarifies separation from Villa Medica Philippines

Oct 7, 2026

EW Villa Medica Germany has clarified that it is no longer connected with Villa Medica Philippines (VMP), including its clinic and branches in Newport Mall and Bonifacio Global City (BGC), amid continuing concerns over the use of the Villa Medica name and the authenticity of products and services being offered in the Philippines.  During a press briefing on Sept. 30, Lorraine Taguiam of The Law Group, representing European Wellness Biomedical Group, said the company decided to publicly clarify the status of its former Philippine licensing partner after receiving inquiries from patients who continued to associate VMP with the German group.  “Our activity, more than the mission to protect the brand and reputation of the Villa Medica Group, is to really extend our reach and inform our public and patients and potential patients about the current status of the Villa Medica Group here in the Philippines, most especially the authenticity and the verified services that they put in the Philippine market,” Taguiam said.   According to Taguiam, EW Villa Medica entered into a licensing partnership with a Philippine group in 2022. However, the relationship eventually deteriorated after the Philippine partner stopped ordering authentic Villa Medica products from Germany between 2023 and 2024.  She said the company could no longer ensure that the products and services being offered to patients were authentic or met the clinical standards of Villa Medica Germany. After several notices and attempts to resolve the matter, EW Villa Medica formally terminated the licensing agreement in June 2026.  Taguiam also said the BGC clinic was never part of the original licensing agreement.  “We never transferred our Newport clinic to BGC. So because there was already a formal termination of our licensing agreement, we did post announcements in all our social media channels,” she said.   EW Villa Medica said it had issued public notices since 2025 warning patients about unverified products and services. The group said it also received inquiries from patients after its June 2026 announcement, including questions about treatments and products being offered by clinics still presenting themselves as part of the Villa Medica group.  The company’s written notice states that the “EW Villa Medica” and “Villa Medica” brands are owned exclusively by European Wellness Biomedical Group, which currently operates in Germany, Malaysia and Thailand. It also states that VMP’s Newport Mall center is no longer connected with EW Villa Medica and that the BGC facility is neither licensed nor accredited by the group.  Taguiam said EW Villa Medica has also pursued legal remedies over what it described as “continuing misrepresentation.”   “For their misrepresentation, it was very clear from all the complaints that we received, and even in our own due diligence, that they are still marketing the clinic as Villa Medica. The EW Group is open to taking more aggressive legal steps if the current actions or strategy will not work out,” she said.   She said the group had previously sent formal letters to VMP owner Crystal Jacinto and the company, but the efforts did not resolve the dispute. EW Villa Medica has since filed an intellectual property case and is undergoing mediation with the Intellectual Property Office.   Taguiam said the dispute could involve contractual penalties and damages, while trademark infringement may also carry criminal liability, depending on the circumstances.   Meanwhile, five days after the briefing, VMP Medical Inc., which operates VMP Regenerative Clinic, issued its own statement dated Oct. 5, saying it is an independent, Filipino-owned healthcare institution.  VMP said it has operated independently since August 2025 and “is in no way connected to, affiliated with, or operating under EW Villa Medica Germany.”  According to the statement, the decision to end the partnership was initiated by VMP’s board of directors because the previous agreement allegedly restricted local innovation, treatment development and efforts to make regenerative care more accessible to Filipino patients.  “Our decision to transition into an independent entity was guided entirely by our commitment to patient welfare, clinical integrity, and the integration of authentic Filipino care and values into our practice,” VMP said in the statement.  The clinic also said it continues to operate independently and follows international healthcare standards.  VMP management thanked its patients, medical staff and partners for their continued trust, saying it remains committed to providing medical care tailored to Filipino patients.
